Through the Welded Tank Division, we are able to fabricate and install welded steel storage tanks throughout California, Arizona and Nevada for a variety of applications. We are able to customize our welded steel tanks to the specific project requirements and provide a wide range in sizes from 10,000 to 2,500,000 gallons.

With an established reputation and history, Superior Tank opened up a new Sales & Operations Center located in Houston, TX to better serve our Midwest customers. The new office contains our Gulf Region Sales Team and functions as home base for our bolted tank erection team. Being located in East Texas allows us to quickly and efficiently build our bolted steel storage tanks throughout the Midwest and Eastern United States.
MOVING TOWARDS THE FUTURE
To better assist our growing number of customer base in Latin America, Superior Tank opened a Sales office in Guadalajara, Mexico. Located in Central Mexico, our office features native Spanish speaking staff well versed in the specific needs of our Latin America customers.

Always looking to advance the precision of our tanks, Superior Tank began a significant investment in the latest manufacturing technology. New machinery including computer guided turret punching press which perfectly creates bolt holes in tank staves without deforming the steel and rough edges. Shortly thereafter, a robotic welding arm was installed providing accurate and precise welds on tank nozzles, ladder and other appurtenances. The new equipment ensures our bolted tanks and accessories for our welded tanks are precision crafted.
THE INTERNATIONAL STANDARD FOR FIRE PROTECTION
To meet the needs of our international customers, Superior Tank achieved FM Certification for our bolted steel tanks designated for fire protection. This internationally recognized standard provides our customers confidence in the level of quality of our bolted tanks for water storage.

Thanks to a proven record of quality and implementation of stringent quality processes, Superior Tank earns the prestigious API Spec Q1 ISO 9001 certification for quality assurance. We are very proud of this certification as it is the culmination of considerable effort to implement a comprehensive Quality Management System. Our QMS ensures our tanks meet or exceed our customer’s expectations and are delivered on time. We always knew our tanks were outstanding quality & now we have the proof to support it!

With decades of experience and history with powder coating bolted steel tanks, we introduced our exclusive Silica Zirconium (SiZr) undercoating. This seal is designed to reduce the spread of corrosion and lengthen the lifespan of our powder coating. Laboratory testing has proven the SiZr seal significantly reduces corrosion damage if the powder coating is severely damaged and can make the difference between a small coating patch and a significant coating repair.

James Marquez embodies the dedication to hard work started by his father, Jess. James started in the family storage tank business working in the manufacturing facility. After high school, James attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and received his degree in Construction Management.
James joined the company full time in 1992 and served as Chief Financial Officer and Engineering Manager for over 10 years.
George Marquez
Inside / International Sales Manager
George Marquez, has over 30 years of experience in project management, estimating & sales in the steel storage tank industry with Superior Tank. Currently, George serves as Sales Manager at the Corporate Headquarters, where he oversees bolted tank sales for sections of the United States and International markets. Joining the company full-time in 1987 after completing his B.A. degree in Political Science from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, George began his career in the field to gain product knowledge and installation experience.
Eric Marquez
Operations & Plant Manager
Eric Marquez, oldest of the four sons, is the manufacturing mastermind and Plant Manager here at Superior Tank who brings over 33 years of knowledge and experience in the steel tank industry. Beginning work in the family business at the age of 16, Eric has become well versed in just about every aspect of the product, including field operations, manufacturing, production and logistics. Since joining the company full-time in 1985, Eric has manufactured nearly all of Superior Tank’s bolted tanks while leading by example and hard work, just how his father had taught him.

Bakersfield Division Branch Manager
Lewis Marquez is a seasoned veteran in the steel storage tank industry with over 30 years of experience working at Superior Tank. Serving as the Branch Manager of the Bolted Tank division in Bakersfield, CA, Lewis oversees the day-to-day operations and manages all sales for Northern California. Working for Superior Tank since its opening day in 1984 as a Field Crew Operator, Lewis was heavily involved in getting the company off the ground. Leading to roles in Estimating, Sales, Project Management and Operations, Lewis has shown his drive to provide each of his customers with the highest quality product with a seamless installation.

Jhon joined the company full time in 2000 after graduating with an Industrial Design Degree from Pontifical Bolivarian University in Colombia. Jhon currently leads the IT, Production, and Quality Assurance Departments. As CIO, he is deeply committed to the philosophy that technology is a means to a competitive modern enterprise. Jhon is extremely passionate about our Quality Management Systems which ensures our bolted steel tanks meet or exceed our customers’ expectations.

Richard leads the Welded Tank Division based in Bakersfield, CA, having joined the team in January 2024. With over 25 years of experience in the welded tank construction industry, Richard has advanced from Field Foreman to Division Manager through hard work and dedication.
